Past research has indicated growing farmer awareness of pesticide resistance issues. However, proactive management is often stymied by misplaced optimism in a miracle pesticide and feelings of fatalism. Yet farmers clearly do not make decisions alone, as their in-field advisers can have considerable positive impact on their knowledge, perspectives, and decisions. This webinar will discuss the results of a nationwide survey of Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) on the topic of pesticide resistance. Farmer and CCA perspectives on the issue will be compared and an outline of common approaches and barriers to productive advising will be presented.
